ABOUT ARUSHA MERU SCHOOL

Head of School's Welcome,
I am delighted to be the Headteacher of a school that has a long history of academic brilliance with a close-knit tie to the Arusha community. As the head of this long-esteemed institution, the school endeavours to provide high quality teaching and learning experiences for all students.
For 50 years now, the Arusha Meru International School has offered a commitment to provide the highest expectations and standards for our students both academically and pastorally. We believe that learning should be individualised, enjoyable and structured and to achieve this, we create a network of wide-ranging programmes inside and outside the classroom and school.
We are a vibrant school that offers a student-centred approach to education. We are academically inclusive who believe that every student should have an equal opportunity in acquiring international education, with international teaching staff, at a fraction of the price compared to other international schools in Arusha.
We expect our students to set themselves high standards in their academic work, extra-curricular activities and their relationship within the community. This is because we challenge them and give them support in order to achieve both socially and academically.
If you want to know more about our school, please keep in touch with us. We would love to have you as our guest so we can show you around and share with you our progress.
Sincerely,

Donald Cuñado
Head of School
Our Philosophy

Arusha Meru International School is an educational institution under the umbrella of the Arusha Educational and Cultural Society. Our aim is to provide high-quality education and teaching for both local and international students in and around Arusha.
Vision
Our vision is to provide an affordable education that embodies the international education standard in learning and pedagogy.
Mission
Arusha Meru International School offers high-quality education for students between the ages of 3-18 years old. We offer both the NECTA system and CIE syllabus. The NECTA system allow our Tanzanian students to pursue the prescribed Tanzanian syllabus that will allow them to receive financial support from the Tanzanian government. The Cambridge syllabus gives our students the option to pursue higher education, locally or internationally, with an internationally-recognised qualification.
Our History

Arusha Meru School opened its educational door on 11 February 1964 with 35 students within the Arusha community. In 1967, the mother organisation of the school, Arusha Education and Cultural Society, acquired the old Aga Khan School building behind the city's only cinema, Elite Cinema.
With a budget of Tsh378,000, the society started building the first phase of the school. The building construction included eight classrooms, a Manager and Head of School's offices, Staff Room and two blocks of children's laboratories. By 1969, the school was in full capacity and the Arusha Town Council allocated a school playground for the xclusive use of the school.
The present location of the school is within the catchment area of the Central Business District of Arusha. In 2015, the school celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
As a school, we provide a wide choice of subjects in our IGCSE and A Level programmes. Our highly-qualified and trained teachers reflect our dedication and commitment towards the education of your children.
